Located in the heart of Whitechapel, the Settles Street development includes the construction of a new five-storey rear extension and the complete refurbishment of an existing Victorian Labour Exchange to provide c. 24,000 sqft of high-quality office space.
The suspended ceilings in the ground and first floor of the curved main building have been removed and the original structure left exposed to reveal a grand 7m ceiling height. The contemporary and light glass box extension acts as a counterpoint to the strong brick work of the Neo-Georgian building. A new clear glass bridge creates an exciting transition point between the old and the new, a theme picked up throughout the careful detailing of this project.
The project is currently on site and is set for completion in February 2020.
